  1. My technique, although not with Eva, is to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before airport check in opens. There may well be a queue of like minded people looking to bag an exit row seat, so ignore the check in queues and go to the ticket desk where hopefully there's no-one waiting. Ask the staff there for your preferred seat and Bob's your uncle. You've just jumped the queue.
  2. Do you need/want parking, pool, breakfast etc. Can make a difference to what would be recommended.
  3. Oman Air might be another option, and there are flights from MAN being plugged for £326 during May at the moment.
  4. Etihad cut the limit on Economy Deals and Economy Saver tickets to 23kg recently. Emirates also cut the limit on their Economy Special tickets to 20kg (although I don't see these offered much). Economy Saver and above are still 30kg.
  5. The dimensions you give are well within those mentioned here: https://www.emirates.com/english/help/faq/214958/baggage-allowances-for-sports-equipment They also give 30kg allowance for all but the cheapest economy tickets, and fly 3 times a day from Manchester. If you're near the airport, nip in and talk to them.
  6. Not saying he was lying, just trying to understand the mechanics of how he got in. I might want to use the method if I can't get in using the means I know. They've devalued the system a couple of times in the last few years - less miles being earned for most tickets, and more miles required for rewards.
  7. You made me check in case I'd missed a change in policy, but Skywards Silver still only qualifies for lounge entry in Dubai, not outstations, as far as I can see on the website. There's several other ways to get access, so maybe he used one of them or had struck some other deal. https://www.emirates.com/UK/english/skywards/about/membership-tiers/membership-benefits.aspx
  8. They used a Miracle Lounge temporarily while they moved stuff from the old to the new. I expect he was in that, although Emirates Silver only gets lounge access in Dubai. Was he flying First or Business Class, or did he pay to enter?
  9. Emirates opened their new lounge in BKK last week. Let us know your views if your in there.
  10. Police stationed at the Lengkee/Diana junction on Soi Buakhow the other day counting the buses, so maybe some sort of quote system planned? There has seemed less the past couple of days but it sometimes just happens like that down to the luck of your timing.
  11. I can understand it for a woman.
  12. Wouldn't putting miscellaneous files to SD card or off altogether give you the space you need, or are these apps too? I don't like the sound of this bit from the article.
  13. I was given similar advice before buying my first smart phone. I've just looked and it says 5.30GB used and 23.82GB free, so I don't think it's in danger of getting full anytime soon. What do people put on their phones that takes up so much memory?
  14. You'll need to download it if you want to use Megabox HD (and maybe other apps) due to Google calling the shots. This means you need a Google Play Store account which I don't want, so if you do download it I wouldn't mind a copy. I found this out after starting a thread on Phil's support forum. You'll find some more info there.
  15. It sounds like the same situation as last year, but I heard about container loads being shipped in by some budding entrepreneur(s) and there seemed to be plenty available come the time.
