    thinkingallowed
    By thinkingallowed,
Right I'm flying scum class next week with EVA Am I correct in thinking they don't allocate emergency exit rows until check in at the airport? Or will they be available when online check in begins.  If it is at the airport what time do the desks open?  Any info that will help me nab one of these seats will be appreciated.  #slummingitattheback

    Chelsea Premier League Champions

    The Tongue
    By The Tongue,
Just thought it needed to be said.  There are a few still interested in football although probably only a few Chelsea fans here so on their behalf i just thought I would put their name in lights on PL. For me I thought they were worthy champions with only a few hiccups during the season. I am happy for my team. Apologies for John Terry getting into the photo lol

    Thai TV guide

    By thinkingallowed,
A lot of football matches are on at silly o'clock in the morning in Thailand but are repeated the next day on Thai TV. How as a tourist would you find out what time these games are being screened? Is there a website you can use?

Cross Border, Scotland > England > Scotland

    Murchie
    By Murchie,
Reading on the internet today that Celtic are being linked with 19 year old Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke. Due to cross border rules the developmemt fee Celtic would have to pay is £400,000/500,000. Seemingly if he was to goto another EPL club the fee that is being quoted is £8,000,000 Not sure where this figure has come from as we're speaking about a 19 year old kid was has played the grand total of 17 minutes of top team football for Chelsea. Going to Celtic would give him what he needs, first team football. Celtic took advantage of the cross border rule last season when they signed Moussa Dembele from Fulham for £500,000 Figures being quoted for him now are £30,000,000 Yes the lad has talent but is he a £30,000,000 player, well thats debatable. There is no doubt that he will move back to the EPL or abroad if he keeps up the level of performance he has shown this season. He says he's happy at Celtic and he knows he'll get first team football and to play in the CL. Heading in the other direction to Chelsea is 16 year old kid Billy Gilmour from Rangers, good talented player but I think this is the wrong move for him. No doubt he'll be in the youth team for a couple of years then like the vast majority of youngsters at Chelsea he'll be loaned out for a couple of seasons that that'll be it. He just needs to look at Izzy Feruz who moved from Celtic to Chelsea in 2011 at the age of 16. After 3 years at Chelsea with no first team football he's spent the last 3 years on loan at 5 different clubs making the grant total of 20 appearances as a centre forward and scoring zero goals. This was a kid who certainly had the talent but it seems that talent has been wasted, no doubt he has made a few pound out of it but sad to see such good talent goto waste. Will be interesting to see where Dembele and Gilmour are in 5/6 years. I hope the kid Gilmour makes it but I see him heading the same way as many Chelsea youngsters.

Duga-3 Radar installion photos - Chernobyl

    firth1974
    By firth1974,
Duga-3, or as it is known in other circles as "Chernobyl 2" is a Soviet Over the Horizon radar system.    This station is still located within the 10KM exclusion zone around the Chernobyl NPP area. Standing at 150 meters tall and with a length of 800 meters, you would think this is visible from miles around, but its not!! Was originally listed on maps as a children's summer camp site, many people never knew it was here, until after the reactor explosion.   This site is still well guarded for some reason. Don't know why, as they isn't anything there at all. The Russians did a very good job at taking all the important parts with them when they withdraw from here, and its only the newly formed (at the time) Ukrainian Government that stopped them from pulling it down and destroying it, and that's only due to the amount of Radiation that would of been disturbed and pushed back into the stratosphere and spread around that part of the world.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duga_radar     Duga (Russian: Дуга) was a Soviet over-the-horizon (OTH) radar system used as part of the Soviet ABM early-warning network. The system operated from July 1976 to December 1989. Two operational Duga radars were deployed, one near Chernobyl and Chernihiv in what was then called the Ukrainian SSR (present-day Ukraine), the other in eastern Siberia. The Duga systems were extremely powerful, over 10 MW in some cases, and broadcast in the shortwave radio bands. They appeared without warning, sounding like a sharp, repetitive tapping noise at 10 Hz,[1] which led to it being nicknamed by shortwave listeners the Russian Woodpecker. The random frequency hops disrupted legitimate broadcasts, amateur radio operations, oceanic commercial aviation communications, utility transmissions, and resulted in thousands of complaints by many countries worldwide. The signal became such a nuisance that some receivers such as amateur radios and televisions actually began including 'Woodpecker Blankers' in their circuit designs in an effort to filter out the interference.
